The 23th, 24th and 25th August  of this year held in the city of Medellin the national junior athletics championship in this event we gathered top athletes from each of the departments of Colombia, compete with brands to improve and seek the Pan American Championship classification.

Colombia race walkers in Moscu 2013 World

Steel three men represent us tomorrow at the world athletics championships to be held in Moscu Russia, they participate in the 20 km of walking athletic.
Eider Arevalo actualmete regarded as the best of Colombia, Fernando Lopez a favorite in its 5th participation in this event and a young Jose  MontaƱa for first world participate in this category

HISTORY

Race walking is practiced for the first time in a documented in England in the eighteenth century, where they became populares.Durante the nineteenth century, race walking was increasing its popularity to draw attention of the rest of Europe, so that in Italy France, Germany and Sweden were organized mass popular marches. Then crossed the Atlantic to be released in the United States and especially in Mexico.1
It was first included in the program of the Olympic Games (OG) in corresponding to the IV Olympiad, held in London in 1908, while the women had to wait until the 1992 Olympic Games. The world record has the Argentinean Marcos caprarola with 34 minutes and 15 seconds, in the march held in the lower San Isidro arrival having as the famous Bosque Alegre.
The march, despite being one of the first specialties that started practicing, is the great unknown of athletic tests, but it is still very popular in some countries where there is a great tradition such as Spain, Italy, China , Japan, Mexico, Guatemala, Russia and some countries of the former Soviet Union. The emergence of large global figures in some countries makes spontaneous generation increasingly becomes popular in countries like Poland, Ecuador, Tunisia, among others.

DEFINITION

Racewalking is a mode of running, in which a progression of steps executed so that the athlete is maintained in contact with the ground, so that there is no visible loss of contact. The leg moves must be straightened (ie not bent at the knee) from the moment of first contact with the ground until the vertical upright position, also the heel walker should enter when in contact with the ground. Race walking included in the Olympic program since 1908 in the men. It is distinguished from running, where athletes can take off both feet off the ground at the same time, and walk the street where you can jog or walk.
